The ambulance was brought from the Re’im parking lot, where the Nova festival was held.
The Nova festival took place between Thursday and Saturday, and on the morning of October 7 there were over 4,000 participants at the festival.
The party was approved by all authorities, and at any given time there were 30 police officers on site.
On the morning of October 7, when the rocket fire towards the Gaza Envelope begins, the party is stopped and the party goers start evacuating the area. Terrorists who position themselves at the Re’im intersection shoot at the first vehicles that arrive there, while the young people run away from the vehicles or try to escape driving the vehicles. Some of them return injured to the party area, where ambulances were located in advance for safety and security reasons. The injured are treated by the nurses and paramedics at the medical treatment site.
Around 09:00 a RPG missile is fired at the ambulance, which hits and kills everyone inside. As a result of the impact, the ambulance is completely burned.
Findings belonging to 16 murdered persons were found in the ambulance. Two of them are Shani Gabai, may she rest in peace and Eliakim Liebman, may he rest in peace.
Shani was declared as a missing person for 47 days, and Eliakim was declared as a kidnapped person for over 200 days. Both died in the ambulance.
Due to the intensity of the impact, it was difficult to identify the victims and each of them was mistakenly buried together with another victim. After the discovery of additional finds at Re’im parking lot – they were identified and properly laid to rest.
At the Nova festival, 364 people were murdered and 44 were kidnapped to Gaza Strip.
